Clinical Study of Early Gastric Cancer



Abstract
This report is a clinical review of 111 cases of early gastric cancer that were treated at Taijeon Eulji General Hospital during 11 years from Mar. 1981 to Dec. 1991.
1) The incidence of early gastric cancer was about 16.7% among total resected stomach cancer(111 case among the 662 cases)
2) The peak incidence of age was 6th decade(42 cases) The mean age was 53.5 years. the ratio of male to female was 2:1.
3) The most common blood type of early gastric cancer patient was A type (46 cases among the 111 cases).
4) The most common chief complaint was epigastric pain and discomfort.
5) The preoperative diagnostic rare was 76.4% by X-ray and 89.6% by endoscopy with biopsy.
6) The most common type of lesion was IIc(34.2%) and its combined types (42 cases among the 111 cases).
7) The common site of early gastric cancer was antrum (86 cases among the 111 cases).
8) The size of lesion was variable, 70 cases were less than 2cm in diameter, 40 cases between 2cm and 6cm, and 5 cases over 6cm 3 cases were multiple locations.
9) 42 cases among the 111 cases of early gastric cancer were confined to mucosa and the overall regional lymph node metastasis was noted in 17 cases(15.3%).
10) The most common hitologic type was moderate differentiated adenocarcinoma.
